Do Tectum Roof Deck panels need to be structurally supported at the perimeter and openings?

Yes, Tectum Roof Deck panels must be structurally supported at the perimeter and any opening over 6". Tectum Long Span must be supported if an opening is at the joint and the channel must be cut.

Can Tectum Wall Panels be installed directly over studs?

Yes, but you must determine the following:

• What is the room used for and what is on the other side of the wall?
• If the room is occupied on the other side of the wall?
• Is there any concern with sound transmission? If yes, then drywall must be used to stop sound transmission.

• 1" Tectum panels weigh: 1.63 pounds per square foot
• 1½" Tectum panels weigh: 2.53 pounds per square foot
• 2" Tectum panels weigh: 3.3 pounds per square foot
• 2½" Tectum panels weigh: 4.5 pounds per square foot
• 3" Tectum panels weigh: 5.3 pounds per square foot

Can Tectum products be used as an exterior application?

As long as the Tectum Panels are protected from the elements, they may be used in exterior applications. A good example of this would be a picnic pavilion, where the panels are direct-attached to the ceiling and protected from the weather. WARNING: Tectum panels are wood, and if repeatedly exposed to the elements, will damage.
